In May 2008, HUGHES Telematics was awarded with the prestigious Telematics Award for Best Embedded Solution at Telematics Update, the telematics industry’s largest conference and show. This award is designed to recognize and reflect hard work, talent and potential in bringing real advances in telematics to the market. This award was a special accomplishment as it followed HUGHES Telematics’ win last year as Leading Newcomer, which recognizes one company that creates the most market impact with a new business model or innovation. The back to back wins indicate the respect and excitement from the industry surrounding HUGHES Telematics’ solutions.
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) recently awarded HUGHES Telematics in Washington, D.C. for its Continuous Smog Check Testing Program which was a finalist for the Environmental Excellence in Transportation (E2T) Award. The E2T Award recognizes a program which makes significant innovations in reducing the environmental impact caused by the transportation industry. The Continuous Smog Check Testing Program, which received the first runner-up prize, monitors vehicle emissions on a continuous basis, allowing for non-compliant vehicles to be detected early and therefore emit less harmful greenhouse gases.
HUGHES Telematics is a finalist for the 2008 American Business Award’s Best New Company. The American Business Awards, nicknamed The Stevie Awards, were created to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide. To be named a finalist, an entry must receive an average score of at least 7.0 out of 10. Overall 33% of the 2,647 entries submitted became finalists (across all categories).
